In case you want to get to know me better, including where I come from, what I do for work, and what I do for fun.

I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. This is also where I call home and my loved ones reside. This also means I am a Vancouver Canuck fan, suffering each day. I graduated from The University of British Columbia in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Science in Civil Engineering. Becoming a Civil Engineer has been my dream since I was a kid and there was nothing going to stop me from achieving that. Throughout my degree, I participated in the Co-op program where I first worked as a Materials Technician and followed that up by working for a year with my current employer as a Project Coordinator. It’s surreal how fast time goes by, as I now have been working 5 years full-time as an Engineer-in-Training, and now recently promoted to a Project Manager. My career supports my relentless pursuit to get things done. I love what I do and believe I make a difference.

Beyond my work life, I love spending time with my friends and fiancée. I am known to be the “Dad” of my friend group, always looking out for everyone and being the rational one as I like to put it. I am passionate about trying to better myself, whether that is keeping up with my fitness, learning new skills like this website, or reading. Specifically, I love to read fantasy and adventure. I am also a big nerd for Mythology, having read each book in both Percy Jackson series at least 3 times and love playing God of War. I am a sucker for a happy hour, especially at the Local Public Eatery now beside my new place. I have listened to Halford and Brough sports radio show every weekday since 2018. On the weekends, my morning routine usually entails me going to Café Artigiano to read, write, and work on my website. Besides reading, I like to relax by going for drives. This started as a hobby during the pandemic to escape quarantine, where I would go drive through Stanley Park or to UBC at least 3 times a week and has continued since. My Rav 4 was the greatest purchase I have ever made until I recently bought my first place. I love to go away on roadtrips, AirBnB getaways, and to travel. I am caring, thoughtful, intense, silly, incredibly hard on myself, and a dreamer. I want to live a million different lives and do even more. That being said, I know I have to focus on my life and always make the most of it. I hope to have the opportunity to share more about myself in the future. This has been a dream of mine and seeing the website where it is now makes me feel content and emotional. I have so many ideas for what this website could be, but right now I am so thankful for anyone that has taken the time to read.

Sincerely,

Patrick Smythe
